Most of us have an idea of which foods to avoid when we don’t want bad breath, but there are some culprits which fly lower under the radar. Here are some examples of foods to steer clear of, unless you’re alone, of course!
Onions and garlic
These are the first foods people think of when imagining bad breath. Both contain the same strong chemicals which can stick around for a very long time, even when they’re not a main ingredient.
Coffee
Another food that’s near the top of the list, coffee has been known to cause bad breath in offices across the world. Plus, drinking coffee regularly also contributes to tooth staining.
Seeds
Foods with seeds, such as strawberries, sesame seeds, and poppy seeds easily get stuck between teeth and promote growth of bacteria. It’s this bacteria which ultimately causes bad breath and tooth decay.
Horseradish
Horseradish contains a compound which contributes to very bad breath. Stay away!
Red meat
Just like seeds, red meat can get stuck between teeth where it becomes the perfect place for bacteria to flourish.
